“I dunno dude, it sorta looked like you were about to cry.” Merle laughed, brushing off the quizzical look on the elf wizard’s face. But Taako stared at the staff, as if he’d just seen something that’d been missing for a long, long time. A moment later, in his typical fashion he shook off any trace of emotion.
“Yeah y’know I just caught a reflection of my face in a puddle and I’m just so dang beautiful, right?” He walked on ahead of the other two, acting as if nothing had happened. Unsure why there was a tear streaking down his cheek. It’s JUST an umbrella.
Right?
I’ve had this idea floating around in my head for a few days, and finally had a moment to get it down. I just really like the idea that sometimes Taako would look down at his umbra staff, and even without really remembering why, it would just make him incredibly sad.
If this is true, then it is strange indeed: that a Dwarf should be willing to leave Middle-earth for any love, or that the Eldar should receive him, or that the Lords of the West should permit it.
